Need Financial Assistance for Home Care?

The Australian Government offers funding options to help ageing individuals maintain their independence and live comfortably at home. These include the Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP) and the Home Care Package (HCP) .

The Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP) is designed for ageing individuals with low-level care needs who require one or two basic services, either short-term or ongoing. It provides funding for services like domestic assistance, personal care, and allied health.

The  Home Care Package (HCP) has been designed for those with higher care needs. It offers four levels of funding based on the individual's assessed needs: basic, low, intermediate, and high. HCP provides financing for a broader range of services than CHSP, including nursing, physiotherapy, and social support.

Choosing the right program for your needs

My Aged Care will be able to help you choose the most suitable program for your needs. They will assess your circumstances and recommend, and then approve the best option. Both CHSP and HCP are means-tested, so your eligibility and level of funding will depend on your care needs and financial situation. Regular reassessments are conducted to ensure your care needs are continually met.

By understanding the differences between CHSP and HCP , you can make informed decisions about your aged care options and secure the support you need to live independently.

Government-funded packages help you pay for the services you need and are based on four funding levels. Depending on your location there may also be services available under the government funded Commonwealth Home Support Program.
